About Cavernton
Cavernton exists to raise the standard of Interior Environment Quality in Britain, so people feel and perform better, and assets perform better too. Our proprietary Cavernton Scale measures Return on Wellness, then guides choices that move NOI and valuation without theatrical spend.
Why we began
Indoor air and interior conditions quietly shape health and value. The UK spends most of life indoors, yet many properties deliver only ordinary interiors that look finished but feel compromised. Cavernton was founded to correct that, by measuring what people actually breathe and feel, then making it simple to improve.
Our story
The seed was personal. Our founder grew up with severe asthma, a family move from Berlin to Finland transformed his health, long before the language of epigenetics became common. Years of fieldwork followed across the Nordics and Germany, places known for rigorous standards, where he learned that even exemplary buildings can accumulate chemistry and moisture that undermine wellbeing. That experience, brought to the UK from 2020, became the framework now known as the Cavernton Scale.
Today we operate from Warwick and London, serving developers, prime residential, care and hospitality, translating world-class science into practical steps that compound value.
What we believe
Two projects can share the same budget, yet diverge for decades. The difference is specification, materials, airflow and moisture control, and the routines that keep conditions steady. With Cavernton you direct the same spend to create a measurable Return on Wellness, which the market recognises through higher income, lower avoidable costs and a calmer risk profile. This is margin, not theatre.
The Cavernton Scale
The Scale is a five-level benchmark from Morbid State to Natural Equilibrium, it evaluates the total interior environment, far beyond ordinary IAQ checks. We combine instruments, Hydro-Air visual capture, chemistry and materials review, moisture and airflow diagnostics, light and sound where relevant, and short interviews. Results are expressed in plain English with a single score, then improved through a focused blueprint and, where useful, light monitoring.
Cavernton is the only consultancy to measure and manage interiors purely from a Return on Wellness standpoint, then link those gains to ROI.
Method, in brief
Benchmark on the Cavernton Scale, discreet fieldwork that shows what is in the air and why it matters. Advisory, a now, next, later plan that redirects existing budgets and routines, with optional monitoring to hold gains. The same contractors and budgets, different outcome.
What sets us apart
Exclusive focus on interiors and RoW, not certificates for their own sake, we optimise lived conditions and the value they create.
Nordic and German rigour, methods shaped in demanding markets, adapted for British property.
Chemistry and materials expertise, we design out off-gassing and prevent secondary reactions, for example combinations that elevate formaldehyde, we remove fragranced cover-ups and set VOC-aware routines.
Hydro-Air visual capture, a water-based centrifuge shows real load in a jar, a powerful way to prioritise fixes and verify results on site.
Commercial clarity, our models show how a modest IEQ allocation can repay within two to three years, then compound into multi-million-pound differences over a ten-year hold.
Team disciplines
Architecture and detailing, building physics and MEP, materials and indoor chemistry, acoustics and lighting, field diagnostics and analytics, property and finance. A single team so decisions are joined up, from procurement to soft landings.
Outcomes our clients expect
Higher achievable rents and faster absorption where the market allows, lower vacancy and concessions, fewer complaints and rework tied to air and moisture, steadier staffing in managed settings, tighter yields at valuation.
